Organised Walks

We offer a selection of different walks around Caistor and the beautiful Lincolnshire Wolds:

Walks for 2017

We are in the process of preparing our walks for the coming year. The likely programme will be:

April 9th  - Bird walk.
Another chance to walk over private land with local ornithologist and bird ringer, Kevin Armstrong. April is a time when birds are migrating. The walk will start from the Dunn Deal Tea Rooms at 2.00pm 


May 7th - Map reading.
Plan your walk using an OS map
Learn to use a map to plan and follow a route. Don't rely on downloading maps to your phone - when the Caistor, understand all the map symbols, then go out and enjoy walking the route.
We'll supply the necessary maps.
Numbers will be limited to 16 so please sign up on our website. A small charge to cover materials will be made.

The weekend of  20 - 21st May is the Open Churches Festival. Short guided walks in Caistor around Church Square and nearby old schools in conjunction with
West Lindsey Health Walkers. Meet at Caistor Parish Church. Saturday between 11am and 3pm &  Sunday between 11.30am and 3.30 pm.


Sunday 21st May, part of Lincolnshire Wolds Walking Festival a guided walk through the Caistor Conservation Area. Meet at Arts and Heritage Centre at 2pm


June -  Thirst after righteousness
A walk of about 5 miles to finish at the beer festival on South Park.

Saturday, 17th June a guided walk around Caistor looking at some of the many “Listed” Buildings. Celebrating Golden Anniversary of Civic Amenities Act which introduced Conservation Areas. Meet at Arts and Heritage Centre at 2pm. 

July - Irby Vale.
A beautiful walk from Irby Church of about 5 miles. We often drive past this area on our way to Grimsby, but it is worth the effort to stop and enjoy it.

August - World War 1 Walk
Starts at 10-00 from Wold Newton Village Hall/tearoom on 19th Aug. Visiting N.Thoresby
War Memorial, and Grainsby Church, where respects will be paid to the two crashed Lancaster's. A Thanksgiving Service will be held at Wold Newton Memorial, as no villagers here killed in WW1.Distance approximately 8 milles
Sept - Promenade to the Proms.
A short walk of 2 - 3 miles to finish at the Proms in the Park

October - Ghost walk.
28 October 2017. A short walk around Caistor where all sorts of devilish deeds and ghostly happening take place. For more details ring Mike 01472 851212
November - To the pub and back.
A walk of about 3 miles to a pub in time for lunch and then we can walk it off by walking back to our start. We shall be back in time to view the market and Any entertainment and the "Lights Switch on".

More details of these walks will be given later, when all routes, risk assessments, planning has been done.  

Every Wednesday there is a health walk of about 3 to 4 miles starting at the Church at 10.30 am
